Report on Port Credit commemoration, Sept. 20
Led by the Rev. Dr. Peter Wyatt, former president of Emmanuel College, University of Toronto, a team re-enacted the arrival of Egerton Ryerson at the Credit Mission, 200 years and four days later (he actually arrived on Sept. 16, 1826). Rose Dyson chaired; Wendy Ryerson, great-great granddaughter of our hero, led in the opening and land acknowledgment; Cathy Simpson acted as narrator, to Peter Wyatt saying Ryerson’s words, taken from his journal, available easily now in Story of My Life, 1882¸Project Gutenberg. The show as so well done, with zoom participants as well. Lynn McDonald gave the closing words, after the QandA.
