John Lenord ( Len ) Fortune is partly of Indigenous blood by way of his maternal Mi’kmaq grandparents, who were originally from Newfoundland.

In the last decade and a half, he has assembled several books on Canada’s First Peoples, two of which were printed by Ningwakwe Learning Press of Owen Sound.

Len was both a Photo Arts and Journalism full-time student at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute for five years; after working at a series of newspapers, he settled in for a 30 plus year stint at The Toronto Sun, finally retiring as Assistant Managing Editor.

His first Ryerson defense, 17 pages and a three-page addendum, below, was forwarded to the Standing Strong Task Force in 2021, then Ryerson University.

His second defense, a lengthy 100 pages crafted in the form of an illustrated e-mail was recently sent February 29, 2024 to Dr. Mohamed Lachemi, President of Toronto Metropolitan University, it’s also shown in its entirety below.
