Dear Negin Khodayari and Jasmine Makar,

I write on behalf of the Friends of Egerton Ryerson group. We were surprised and very disappointed that you decided not to run the ad we submitted regarding the talk to be given by  Patrice Dutil, TMU professor, next week. Our purpose was to open the door to readers of The Eyeopener who might be interested in learning more about Egerton Ryerson, one of the most influential thinkers and educational entrepreneurs of nineteenth century Canada.

We were especially concerned with your impression that our organization aims to inflict harm on marginalized groups on campus. We assure you that we have no such intention, let alone capacity. Your note was insulting.

In the spirit of genuine truth and reconciliation we are inviting you personally to join us, as our guests on March 25th.  to learn more about Egerton Ryerson’s work. Prof. Dutil is a compelling speaker who consistently presents original and learned insights and his talk on Egerton Ryerson as a Humanist promises to be enlighteningThe event begins at 7pm at The Citadel, 304 Parliament St. Refreshments will be served.

We sincerely hope you can make it.

Best Regards

Rose A. Dyson Ed. D.
